Executive Team

Travis West, Chief Executive Officer

Travis became President/CEO of Fringe Benefit Group, the parent company of The Contractors Plan and The American Worker brands, in 1998. He led the firm through a dramatic expansion that has positioned Fringe Benefit Group as the industry leader in the design, implementation and administration of benefit plans for government contractors and the variable-hour workforce. In 2023, Travis transitioned to CEO/Director, where he works closely with the company’s executive team to guide the company’s strategic vision and major initiatives.

Travis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in politics from Washington & Lee University and received his MBA degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

John Malnar, President

John is President of Fringe Benefit Group, where he oversees the company’s strategic vision and daily operations. His extensive experience with analytics, reporting and strategy guides Fringe Benefit Group’s fast growth while identifying new opportunities and streamlining existing processes. John joined Fringe Benefit Group in 2017 after serving as CFO for two high-growth fintech companies (YapStone and PayPros), where he managed corporate and financial operations, oversaw business analytics and assisted with strategic initiatives. He was twice named as a finalist for Private Company CFO of the year by the Los Angeles/Silicon Valley Business Journals. Prior to that, John spent a decade in New York working in private equity and investment banking roles at BlackRock, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan after graduating with honors from the University of Texas at Austin.

Jon Duczak, Chief Revenue Officer

Jon is the Chief Revenue Officer at Fringe Benefit Group, where he leads with a passion for creating meaningful health benefit solutions tailored to companies employing hourly workers and those operating under government contracts governed by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and Davis-Bacon Act (DBA). A self-taught industry expert, Jon has built his career from the ground up, earning a reputation for his deep understanding of the benefits landscape and his unwavering commitment to client success. With decades of proven experience, Jon and his team have consistently delivered value, not just to the companies they serve, but to the employees whose lives are directly impacted by their work. Beyond the business impact, Jon takes great pride in the personal relationships forged along the way, relationships built on trust, respect, and a shared commitment to doing what’s right. Jon’s insights and dedication continue to shape Fringe Benefit Group’s reputation as a trusted partner in the health benefits industry.

Brian Robertson, EVP, Retirement Partnerships

Brian is responsible for leading retirement plan sales through FBG’s brands The Contractors Plan and The American Worker. He has been with FBG since 1994, when he joined the company as a regional sales director. During his tenure at FBG, he has successfully launched several new product lines, including a variety of voluntary and employer-paid insurance products for hourly workers. A graduate of Texas A&M University, he and his wife Pamela enjoy spending time with their combined seven children and six grandchildren. His hobbies include traveling, golf and hunting.

John Conkling, EVP, Health Partnerships

John is responsible for managing the company’s health insurance carrier relationships. John began working for Fringe Benefit Group in 1999 as its Southeast Regional Sales Director. He relocated to Austin in 2001 to develop and expand the company’s limited medical product offering and customer base. He played an instrumental role in the growth of the company’s voluntary products while working closely with brokers, business partners and new clients for more than 15 years. John is now responsible for developing and managing relationships with Fringe Benefit Group’s health insurance carriers, supporting the sales team, and assisting with corporate strategy. John grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and graduated from Washington & Lee University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
